| Prior to the F6 series of IEC1107 Optical Probes ABACUS ELECTRICS manufactured the FZ series of Zero-Power and F4 series of 5volt Powered probes. These probes, housed in Black Delrin casings, operated at RS232 signal levels up to 19200 bits/second. | |
| Zero Power Probe | |
| The FZ series of Zero-Power probe requires no power supply. The transmitter and receiver circuits within the probe derive all necessary power from the host computer serial port. The FZ series have been superceded by the F6Z series, a replacement guide is shown below: |

| Powered Probe | |
| The F4 series of powered probe requires a +5 volt power source. The transmitter and receiver circuits utilise low power circuitry, conserving energy when the probe is used with battery powered computers or hand-held-units. The F4 series have been superceded by the F6R series, a replacement guide is shown below: |
