- Return Shipping Instructions -

 

Sometimes it may become necessary to return equipment to ABACUS ELECTRICS for repair, recalibration  or upgrade. If possible please follow the instructions below as this will help minimise cost and delay.
 
Notification
Please notify us by email or fax that goods are being returned to us. It helps us plan our schedule and allows us to confirm turn-around time.
 
RMA Number
If you require a Return Material Authorization (RMA) number please request one by email before the goods are returned to us.
 
Turn-around Time
Goods for repair or upgrade will typically need to be with us for ten days. If we are closed for holidays or particularly busy it may be longer.
 
Processing
Please include a note with the returned goods stating the action required (upgrade or repair). If the goods are faulty please indicate the nature of the fault(s). An intermittent fault may otherwise be missed when hurrying to return ship.
 
Shipment
Any appropriate shipper may be used, eg FedEx, TNT, DHL, UPS, Datapost or Airfreight. If a courier is used then we may return ship by the same service.
Note that some couriers charge us when they complete importation paperwork, even though the freight charges have been pre-paid. Any such charges will be billed onwards to yourselves.  FedEx, for example, make a charge of GBP 30.00 (about 60 US dollars).
 
Packaging
Ensure the goods are well packed so additional damage does not occur. An ARTA 80 analyser should be packed in a double-walled card carton will at least 2" (5cm) of padding (polystyrene loose fill or bubble-wrap) all around. Do not rely on the courier to pack the goods as their transit bags offer no protection.
 
Documentation
For U.K. and other European Community (EC) countries no particular documentation
is needed other than that required by the shipping company.
For countries outside the EC documentation must be completed in order to avoid non-recoverable duty and Value Added Tax (VAT) charges.
These charges will not be made if the shipping paperwork is completed correctly. Any charges made due to incorrect paperwork will be billed onwards to yourselves.

If you use a courier their shipping Airwaybill may not have room for all this information.
In this case please ensure that the words "Temporary export - duty suspension" appear on their form.
Include a separate 'invoice' with the full information on if possible.
